Hi, I’m Ellen!
I'm a certified Nutritional Therapy and Restorative Wellness Practitioner passionate about helping people get to the root of their health issues to restore vitality.
Food has always been my love language. I credit that love largely to my grandmother, who would cook from scratch daily. Even though I loved home-cooked meals, once I started school, I was introduced to the world of processed foods - convenient and full of flavor (hello Cheetos!).
As so many before me, I got into the field of holistic health and nutrition because I was frustrated with the care my family and I were getting from conventional medicine. When my daughter started experiencing frequent stomach pains after eating and traditional care was unable to help, I knew I had to dig deeper and find more answers. I decided to enroll in a holistic nutrition program with the Nutritional Therapy Association (NTA) - a nutrition school with a foundational holistic approach to nutrition that is evidence-based and honors the bio-individuality of our bodies. My education at the NTA made me see the profound effect nutrition has on our health and the importance of addressing imbalances before they become real issues. Eager to continue learning, I received advanced training in functional testing: Gastrointestinal Healing, Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis, and Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis.
Our genes are not our destiny. Attributing illness purely to genetics and aging is a passive way of looking at our health. The way we live our lives determines our genetic destiny. A thorough evaluation of my own health and nutritional status with the help of functional labs allowed me to identify and address the many imbalances that had accumulated through the years. I now feel better than I have ever before. It has ignited a spark in me to help advocate for and educate others on how we are supposed to feel.
Preventing and reversing chronic health issues IS possible. We are designed to function at a high level and feel amazing. I am confident that I have the tools necessary to do the deep detective work to help you find the root causes of your health issues and look forward to guiding and supporting you on your journey to better and sustainable health.
Little Things That Bring Me Joy
Growing my own food (this is a big deal for a former city slicker who did not know how to grow anything)
Sprouting - Broccoli, alfalfa, lentils, chickpeas….
Shopping for indoor or outdoor plants
Exploring all the arboretums and gardens (Ha! I sense a pattern here.)
Seeing my kids make healthy food choices (not always, but most of the time)
Waking up to doggy kisses or cat purrs
Unwinding with an Epsom salt bath
Belting out a good tune
Impromptu kitchen dance parties
Picnics with all the fixin’s
Being out in nature
